In the twilight zone

It was a reunion of ‘at the door of retirement’ souls. After twelve years of, ‘family, office hassles, marriages, grandchildren, and health complaints’ gap. Six of the thickest childhood friends jumped into a Ford SUV with minimal baggage for a night stay at the Surya Lanka beach resort.

From the moment go it was our shout in unison all through, ‘let every minute sip the leisure and time freeze in slow motion.’

I enjoyed a different kind of thrill. The beach is all for myself the next twenty-four hours. The sunsets, the blue hues, the boats, the golden sands, frothy white waves. My camera and I are elated to capture the many glories of the sunset and sunrise along the shoreline.

We arrived at lunchtime greeted by tempting aromas from the kitchen. Well laid dishes loaded with seafood, the roar of the sea as the background tune.

As I’m readying my camera gear, a voice inside me whispered, “I have seen a lot of chaos, I’m here to relax, to savor the childhood friendship, take a deep breath and live the moment.”My photographs speak how tranquil the sea seemed and how I chilled with my friends.

Suryalanka beach resort is in Guntur District and also known as Bapatla Beach. It is 92 km from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, India.

  1. Hope you guys had a good time. A visit to a seashore teaches so many lessons. By standing in front of the mighty sea makes us feel how small and insignificant we are.
